Youth Hostel?s Terms of Use

The excerpt from the INTERNAL REGULATIONS of the School Youth Hostel in Kraków

  1. The right to use the Youth Hostel is vested in school pupils and students, teachers and other educational staff, as well as tourists holding PYHA or IYHF cards.
  2. Accommodation in the Hostel, depending on availability, can be vested in other people, provided that they pay the prices set by the authority in charge and comply with the rules and regulations in force in the Youth Hostel.
  3. The day in the Hostel lasts from 5pm to 10am of the following day. From 10am to 5pm guests should leave the Youth Hostel building.
  4. In case of unfavourable weather conditions staying inside the hostel in Zakopane in the hours from 10am to 5pm is permitted with the Hostel Manager?s consent.
  5. Administrative, organizational, cleaning and renovation works are carried out between 10am and 5pm.
  6. In particularly justified cases, with the Hostel manager?s consent and payment of the day rate, staying inside the Hostel between 10am and 5pm is permitted.
  7. Guest check-in to the Hostel is from 5pm to 11pm.
  8. The Hostel is closed at 11pm. After prior arrangement with the reception desk guests can be checked in after 11pm (night trains, theatre plays, etc.) Guests who return in late hours are obliged to keep quiet.
  9. The night-time silence should be kept from 10pm to 6am.
  10. Luggage storage for tour groups and individual tourists is available from 6am to 10pm.
  11. Fees for accommodation are collected on the day of arrival, according to the prices set by the authority in charge of the hostel, valid on that day.
  12. Guests are allowed to stay at the Hostel for no longer than three consecutive nights. In case of available places, the Hostel Manager may give permission for a longer stay.
  13. Keys to the rooms are handed only to the group guardian or individual persons after leaving an identity card at the reception desk. Guests are obliged to return the keys to the reception desk each time they leave the Hostel.
  14. The leader of a tour group and guardians are responsible for the safety, health and behaviour of young people and are therefore obliged to stay and sleep in the Hostel together with the participants.
  15. The use of bed linen provided at the reception desk is obligatory during the stay.
  16. Individual tourists and tour groups are obliged to maintain cleanliness and order in the whole Hostel. Kitchens and dining rooms should be cleaned after the preparation and consumption of meals (food leftovers collected, dishes washed, tables wiped clean).
  17. Tourists are obliged to prepare their meals only in kitchens and eat them in dining rooms.
  18. Storage of food products, consumption of meals in the bedrooms and the use of heaters is prohibited.
  19. Drinking alcohol, smoking, using drugs in the Hostel is strictly forbidden.
  20. The group manager or individual tourist is responsible for any damage to equipment and objects being the property of the Hostel. The costs of damage should be reimbursed in accordance with the price list at the reception or in the amount agreed with the Hostel?s manager.
  21. The Hostel is liable only for valuables and money deposited at the Hostel.
  22. The Manager is entitled to inform the appropriate institution (school, university, organisation) about the inappropriate behaviour of the participants of the tours.
  23. In the case of failure to respect the Hostel?s Rules and Regulations or outrageous behaviour of groups or individual tourists, they may be removed from the Hostel without reimbursement of accommodation fees.
  24. Persons using the Hostel may write all positive and negative remarks in the Request Book at the Reception Desk.
  25. Booking of accommodation in the Hostel is carried out according to the following rules:
    • group bookings are accepted in writing at least one month before the planned stay, with priority for youth tours organized by schools and educational institutions,
    • the order must include the exact date of stay, number of participants, address and name of the organizer and a signature with a stamp,
    • the ordering party receives a booking confirmation from the Hostel (within 14 days) and an agreed date of advance payment of 25% of the cost of stay,
    • the order is valid after payment, by postal order or bank transfer to the Hostel’s account, of the agreed advance payment,
    • the advance payment can be returned only in justified unforeseen events, after written cancellation of the order no later than 30 (thirty) days before the planned stay, after deduction of administrative costs,
    • if the advance payment is not received by the Hostel within the set deadline, the order is automatically cancelled,
    • orders are qualified according to the order of applications with priority for groups of young people and teachers and according to the number of available places,
    • individuals are accepted at the Hostel directly or can make an earlier booking without the need to pay the advance payment.
  26. In all matters not covered by the Rules and Regulations concerning the matters of the Hostel, the guests are obliged to follow the instructions of the reception desk, and in case of dispute to the guidelines and decisions of the Hostel Manager.
